Embrace aims to improve maternal and child health through an innovative technology delivery method that reaches some of the most vulnerable populations. Their strategy involves identifying new products with the greatest probability to improve health outcomes in developing countries and enhancing their manufacturing and delivery processes to get those products to the people who need them most.
Embrace distributes and provides training on the Infant Warmer, an inexpensive medical technology that gives thermal support to premature and low birth weight infants. By warming and regulating the body temperatures of preterm hypothermic newborns, the advanced medical device addresses the issue of high preterm and low birth weight infant mortality in developing countries. Local healthcare providers are provided with training on how to use the Infant Warmer devices and about the importance of hypothermia treatments. Currently, preterm and low birth weight infants (especially females) born to low-income families in India, China, and Somalia are direct beneficiaries of the project.
The Infant Warmer has the potential to help preterm and low birth weight infants all over the world because of its low-cost and Embrace’s strong local partnerships. Embrace provides Infant Warmer device and training through partnerships with trusted local healthcare service providers dedicated to delivering affordable, quality healthcare to low-income families. By partnering with organizations that have multiple pre-established clinics and hospitals, Embrace has the potential for expansion particularly in regions with high infant mortality, high population growth rates and low-resource availability like India, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
