… EyeNETRA envisions satisfying the demand for eye care and vision correction in the developing world, which is estimated to reach up to 2.4 billion people.
Through a radically innovative and affordable mobile eye diagnostic device, EyeNETRA has made eye care accessible for those living in the developing world. The Near Eye Tool for Refractive Assessment (Netra-G), also known as the “EYE Phone,” is a state-of-the-art technology developed at MIT Media Lab that consists of a clip-on eyepiece and software app for smart phones. This technology replaces bulky diagnostic equipment allowing anyone with a mobile phone to administer an eye test which measures nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Users can even obtain a prescription for eyeglasses through the application.
EyeNETRA’s competitive advantage is packaged in its user-friendly features and the fact that it takes virtually no training to use the application. This gives the NETRA-G technology endless potential for creating new business opportunities at grassroots levels in the form of small optical businesses worldwide. To support its network of portable eye care devices, EyeNETRA has recently developed a cloud-based platform for eye care called Test2Connect. This mobile-health technology will create an online venue that brokers new business opportunities between patients, care providers and vendors. With this initiative EyeNETRA envisions satisfying the demand for eye care and vision correction in the developing world, which is estimated to reach up to 2.4 billion people. Not surprisingly, EyeNETRA has been considered a pioneer organization for its efforts to transform the eye care industry by introducing affordable, easy-to-use, and accurate technology to millions of people currently lacking access to eye care.
