Katerva’s mission is to create the first truly open worldwide platform for change. Katerva is focused on inspiring action and scaling innovation. We will create, find, replicate, and implement sustainability innovations to positively impact billions of people.

Humankind faces unprecedented challenges in scope and scale of the problems ahead and in the complexity and interrelatedness of those problems. From climate crisis to ecosystem implosion, the solutions must be equally unprecedented in their scope: holistic and systemic. Katerva convenes, synergizes and accelerates breakthrough solutions to global challenges through its global action network.

Katerva has spent years building this global "network of networks," which includes NGOs, thought and business leaders, corporations, academics, political and celebrity figures, and activists the world over. By growing and galvanizing this global action network and linking its members through tools that facilitate collaboration, action, and strategic investment, Katerva will close the gap between great ideas and great solutions in ways that other organizations and institutions have been unable to.

Katerva has designed and activated four unique and powerful platforms to create and leverage these networks:

• The Katerva Awards – The pinnacle of global sustainability recognition. Through them, the best ideas on the planet are identified, refined and accelerated for global impact.
• The Katerva Assessment Center – A distinct set of diagnostics to evaluate and rate performance against a broad set of sustainability principles.
• The Katerva Solutions Center – A social innovation and collaboration platform that fully utilizes Katerva’s global action network to address complex, high stakes global challenges and implement solutions.
• The Katerva Intelligence Center – A global repository of peer benchmarks and proven best practices at the intersection of innovation and sustainability. The Intelligence Center allows us to synthesize the massive data flows and insights from Katerva’s other platforms and meta-network into proprietary intelligence, and is the epicenter for Katerva’s business organization.

Individually, these platforms are powerful tools for change. Together, they constitute an essential meta-network capable of creating a better tomorrow today, and a firm revenue basis for a sustainable organization.

Katerva has been more than three years in the making, with almost 20,000 professional person-hours devoted to recruiting the expert global action network and experienced team contributors. Katerva established and launched the Katerva Sustainability Awards in 2011, and is now preparing for a dynamic and profitable business launch. Our expert global action network of more than 2,000 global leaders and influencers is growing daily, and includes political leaders, Nobel Prize winners, and celebrities.

Katerva is built around the strength and commitment of an experienced and successful management team. At the core of this team is founder Terry Waghorn, a tireless innovator committed to a thriving future for the planet. Terry is the former global head of Business Innovation for KPMG, contributor to Forbes.com, and a globally recognized thought leader on business strategy. The COO, Jean Brittingham, is a seasoned sustainability change agent, entrepreneur and experienced implementer. Terry and Jean are supported by an incredibly capable group of start-up and seasoned professionals and advisors. Team members come with experience gained at major global institutions and initiatives including The University of Cambridge’s Sustainability Programme, Live Earth, MoveOn.org, Ernst and Young, Twentieth Century Fox, McCann-Erickson, and the World Economic Forum.
