Typical “linear” shower systems are wasteful; they take fresh potable water, heated to a comfortable temperature with electrical or fossil energy. The longer the shower, the bigger the associated energy and water footprints become. Showerloop is a water filtration and purification system that recycles shower water in real time. The system allows you to shower with hot water for a long time, while using only 10 liters of water per shower (normal shower = ~6-10 liters/min) and a fraction of the energy (around one-tenth) compared to a normal shower. By reusing heated water, Showerloop helps us to enjoy long hot showers without the waste.
In an average home, showers are typically the third largest water use after toilets and clothes washers. The heat energy required to warm the water is also the single most intense thing that we do as individuals in the home. Also according to the WHO over 2 billion people lack access to potable water and sanitation.
By simultaneously recycling and reusing the wastewater from Showers thus reducing energy and water demands.
This procedure would use 90% less water, 70% less energy than a normal shower while keeping the experience similar to a normal one. Our solution is also modular, allowing for installation in normal homes, vans, boats and off grid solutions.
Removing soap, automating cleaning and improving the user experience (under work)
Right now it will help off grid homes like Tiny houses and Van houses. It will allow for comfortable showers without intense energy requirements and can allow for carbon neutral solutions at reduce costs - less energy and water means the water and energy sources can be smaller.
