Leila Hanafi Principal/lawyer

Washington DC and Rabat based Moroccan-American international qualified lawyer, with the World Bank and most recently, focal point for the United Nations OPS/World Bank Legal Framework. Dr. Hanafi, earned a doctorate in law in the UK, and is Founder and Principal of international development law firm ARPA Dispute Resolution, and serves in legal advisory roles to UN agencies, including UN ESCWA and UNDP. Formerly, Dr. Hanafi oversaw the International Criminal Court Middle East and North Africa Coalition. She was selected to serve in leadership positions at a young age at the intersection of law and international development. As staff attorney & programs manager of the ABA's World Justice Project to becoming a World Bank professional, her experience consists of work in alternative dispute resolution, legal advisory services, transnational law, comparative legal systems, judicial reforms, operations, international law, rule of law, and international organizations. Leila was the winner of the World Bank Middle East and North Africa Innovation Fund. In 2013, Dr. Hanafi was selected by the Moroccan Government as Commissioner in the National Inter-Governmental Commission for Policy Dialogue.Dr. Hanafi is Lecturer in Law and profiled in media outlets for academic and professional accomplishments, ranging from her selection as Young Moroccan American Law Personality to Recipient of Young Leadership & Innovation Award by the Society for International Development in Washington DC. She is a graduate of American University, Georgetown University, & George Washington University Law School Washington DC, and recipient of a doctorate in law from the UK (fully funded merit doctoral scholarship).
